I started CrossFit back in 2012 after having our two daughters Holly and Hanna. Originally, about 6 years ago, I had purchased a 3 month CrossFit membership for my husband Nick to try, and after several months of him doing CrossFit, he convinced me that it was awesome! It was nothing like anything he had ever done before. He said it was like being back in “Sports” again. I tried CrossFit once, then shortly thereafter got pregnant. Over the next two years we had both our daughters Holly and Hanna.

About six weeks after our 2nd daughter I gave CrossFit another try and haven’t looked back since!

I LOVE CrossFit. I love the community aspect, the motivation it gives everybody, the way I feel after doing a workout, the constant learning and sharing of fitness knowledge within the CrossFit world and knowing that I’ll be healthier for my children and family. It has helped me to focus on nutrition, and helping others learn what they can to help improve their own lives! As an athlete growing up I was always active. I played volleyball in high school and college, but even that did not give the same feeling of self-accomplishment and confidence. Being a woman I never did pull ups, I never would have thought I could do an overhead squat, a snatch, GHD Situp, Clean and Jerks, or half the things that I now do on a daily basis in CrossFit.


IMG_0905Within my first year of starting CrossFit, I competed in the 2013 Left Coast Invitational Intermediate Level competition. I was the first time to compete in an event like that and overall I took 9th place out of about 50 other women. With a long history of working in the restaurant industry, being a manager, bartender, server, etc. I love people. In 2015 we took the CrossFit Barracks Advanced Team, 3rd place podium spot.  I have a personality for wanting to help others learn what I know.

Nick & MelissaIn 2013 I, along with my husband, we decided to pursue owning a CrossFit Box of our own. After obtaining my CrossFit Level 1 Certification, we continued on to get the CrossFit Olympic Weightlifting Certification, then after months of encouragement, time, training, and planning we now own CrossFit H2.

CrossFit H2 8 Week Body Challenge Starts August 8th! The goal for this 8 week challenge is not only weight loss and overall body composition, but to encourage a lifestyle change that can be maintained throughout one’s life. Over the course of the 8 weeks, the athlete will be expected to adhere to the guidelines
